After your arrival, you can take the rest of the day to rest, acclimate, and enjoy the serene atmosphere of the city before embarking on the exciting adventures that await you the following day.
Start your day early, leaving behind Quito to discover the famous Otavalo Market, a true cultural treasure with roots dating back to pre-Inca times. Considered the oldest market in South America, this vibrant space is not only perfect for purchasing souvenirs but also a window into the history and traditions of the region.
Be amazed by a colorful display of finely woven textiles, leather goods, authentic crafts, and sculptures created by talented local artisans.
After a morning of exploring and enjoying the unique atmosphere of the market, return to Quito and relax in your charming hotel, taking advantage of an afternoon of rest after this enriching experience.
Discover the essence of Quito on an exclusive tour that blends modernity, history, and colonial architecture. Your experience begins with a walk through the northern residential area, exploring the city’s contemporary neighborhoods before diving into its historic heart.
On foot, you will explore the colonial center of Quito, a treasure recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will be amazed by its majestic churches, elegant houses with wrought-iron balconies, and arches that evoke the splendor of a past era. The Spanish religious heritage is evident in this district, where more than 40 churches and chapels, along with 16 convents and monasteries, form an invaluable architectural legacy.
The tour continues with visits to two iconic landmarks. First, the Alameda Park, home to the oldest astronomical observatory in South America. Then, you will arrive at Independence Plaza, where the grand Church of San Francisco stands, the oldest and most impressive temple in Quito.
This journey through the city will immerse you in the history and culture of Quito as you stroll through its charming streets in an unforgettable experience.
The adventure continues with the start of your exclusive cruise through the Galápagos Islands, an incomparable destination for wildlife observation. This trip will allow you to immerse yourself in the magic of the archipelago, enjoying every moment in complete comfort.
Upon your arrival in the Galápagos, you will board an elegant yacht, where you’ll be welcomed with a delightful lunch. From the deck, you can admire the islets surrounded by mangroves as you sail towards Santa Cruz, the second-largest island in the archipelago. Keep an eye out for iconic birds such as blue-footed boobies, frigates, and pelicans, as well as a wide variety of marine life, including turtles, marine iguanas, rays, and sharks.
Once ashore, you will embark on a hike through this natural paradise, where you’ll have the chance to see flamingos, stilts, and whimbrels up close. The journey continues to Dragon Hill, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the bay and the western sector of the islands. In this area, you can also spot land iguanas in their natural habitat, wandering or nesting on the volcanic terrain.
This is just the beginning of an unforgettable expedition through one of the most fascinating ecosystems on the planet.
The second day of your exclusive Galápagos cruise will take you to the fascinating Bartolomé Island, one of the youngest islands in the archipelago. Your excursion begins with a climb up a wooden staircase leading to the island’s summit. From there, you will enjoy an unmatched view of the volcanic landscape and the crystal-clear waters surrounding it.
For an even more impressive experience, hop on a panga (fishing boat) and sail around the iconic Pinnacle Rock, an imposing volcanic cone that offers an incomparable natural spectacle. If you prefer, dive into a snorkeling session and share the water with the playful Galápagos penguins, having a close encounter with the local marine life.
After a delicious lunch aboard the cruise, the adventure continues at Puerto Egas, a paradise for observing coastal and land birds. Walk along the volcanic rock coastline and be amazed by the wildlife: sea lions basking in the sun and marine iguanas feeding in the algae beds.
This day promises the perfect combination of exploration, breathtaking views, and unforgettable encounters with the unique fauna of the Galápagos.
The day begins with breakfast aboard before disembarking on a white sandy beach in Darwin Bay, a natural sanctuary that is home to an incredible variety of birds, including large frigatebirds, red-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, and various types of finches. What is most fascinating is that many of these species barely react to human presence, allowing for close and uninterrupted observation.
For the more adventurous, the waters surrounding the imposing cliffs offer a unique snorkeling opportunity, where you may encounter hammerhead sharks. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, return to the ship to enjoy exciting whale and dolphin watching as you sail through the crystal-clear waters of the archipelago.
In the afternoon, the exploration continues at North Seymour. During the walk across the island, you’ll witness the impressive display of frigatebirds inflating their colorful red sacs to attract mates, while the blue-footed boobies perform their unique courtship dances. Additionally, you’ll observe sea lions resting on the shore and groups of marine iguanas sunning themselves on the volcanic rocks.
This journey through the Galápagos Islands will allow you to experience unforgettable moments in an unparalleled natural environment, surrounded by some of the archipelago’s most iconic species.
Start the day with a visit to the enigmatic Santa Fe Island, also known as “Barrington Island,” one of the oldest formations in the Galápagos archipelago. During a morning hike through its prehistoric landscape, you will encounter towering rocks over four million years old and admire the island’s endemic iguanas, unique creatures with an almost mythical appearance.
In the afternoon, the adventure continues on Santa Cruz Island, where you’ll visit the prestigious Charles Darwin Research Station. Here, you’ll learn about the conservation efforts made by experts to protect the biodiversity of the Galápagos. At the turtle breeding center, you’ll have the chance to observe these majestic creatures up close, symbols of the region.
Later, a tour through the highlands of Santa Cruz will take you to explore a dense forest of giant daisies and marvel at the stunning “Los Gemelos” craters. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to see the iconic giant tortoises moving freely in their natural habitat. A day filled with history, nature, and science in the heart of the Galápagos.
In the morning of your final day, explore the peaceful Baquerizo Moreno Island, the provincial capital of Galápagos. Here, you can delve into the natural history of the archipelago through the fascinating exhibits at the Cristóbal Interpretation Center. Afterward, enjoy a stroll through the picturesque town, known for its colorful cafés and souvenir shops, where you can find something special to take home as a memory of your adventure.
In the afternoon, the IB team will take care of your transfer back to the Ecuadorian mainland. After arriving at Quito’s airport, you’ll check in for your flight home, bringing your unforgettable journey through the Galápagos Islands to a close. We wish you a safe journey and new adventures to discover!
